The Makita DKP181 18v planer features a brushless motor which allows around 30% more run-time over conventional brushed motors and produces less heat and requires little or no maintenance. With an 82mm width cutting bed and a maximum cutting depth of 3mm, this unit has the power and performance to replace a corded machine.

ATD (automatic torque drive) changes the cutting speed according to load conditions for optimum planing, and the soft start motor prevents snatching on startup. Other features include an electric brake, left and right-handed chip ejection and a spring-loaded stand that elevates the base to protect the blades and workpiece.
