Taps & Dies

Tap and die sets are commonly used for cutting threads on components like bolts, screws, and nuts. The tap is used to cut threads into the inside of a hole, creating a nut, while the die is used to cut threads on to a cylindrical surface, creating a screw or bolt. In addition to this, tap and dies sets can also be used to clean out existing threads, by freeing the grooves from trapped dirt and debris.
